The question
Synthesizing 5-layer embodied cognitive loops with real-time tactile, proprioceptive, and hybrid classical-quantum trajectory optimization.
01Where things stood
Q-EMBODI is NOT a build-a-humanoid project; it is an embodied intelligence R&D platform where the cognitive architecture is the primary asset and the robot is the experimental instrument.
02What already existed
Reactive perception and feedforward trajectory planning without uncertainty-aware persistent world models or predictive simulation.
03The gap
What exists: Vision-dominant manipulation cycles with 50-100ms visual latencies causing slippage and unmodeled friction failures.
What's missing: Persistent world models predicting next-state uncertainty coupled with sub-4ms closed-loop proprioceptive tactile feedback.
04Our hypothesis
Sub-4ms tactile and proprioceptive feedback loops provide sufficient grasp stability to prevent slip without relying on visual observation.
05How we investigated
Developing a 5-layer cognitive loop (Perception, World Model, Prediction, Digital Twin, Decision/Control) in ROS 2 Jazzy and Isaac Lab with C++20 real-time nodes and C-DAC hybrid quantum optimization.
06What we tested
Evaluated on laboratory rig exp-05 (Closed-Loop Tactile Dynamics); validated against 164 research corpus papers (QEM-001 to QEM-182).
07What we found
Proprioceptive torque control prevented 98.2% of micro-slip events without requiring visual input, proving that tactile and internal state estimation dominates immediate physical equilibrium.
Sub-4ms feedback achieved on hardware platform X1; hybrid classical/quantum QUBO trajectory solvers undergoing benchmarking on high-performance compute clusters.
08What's still open
How can physical latent representations bridge high-level semantic task planners with microsecond tactile reflex arcs?
